I've done some of the math and here are the results:
[I used Ferus since I'm standing in the store atm of writing this. Scale Results up and down for your level]
If you assume that on average, the weaps hit for the midpoint damage, always hit, and no crit:
Ferus Giant Sword (Etc.) - 22.75 DPS
Ferus Giant Axe (Etc.) - 22.95 DPS
Ferus Giant Bludgeon (Etc.) - 23.75 DPS
Assume weaps hit for min. damage, rest same:
Ferus Sword - 20.5
Ferus Axe - 19.54
Ferus Bludg - 19.17
Assume weaps hit max, rest same:
F Sword - 25
F Axe - 26.36
F Bludg - 28.33
While it's obvious that we won't constantly hit in the min, avg, max, or even at all, we will have to weigh all values. When looking at the min vs max, it seems that the safety (min) is outweighed by the chance that you might hit the max: S vs A - .96 min vs 1.36 max, S vs B - 1.33 vs 3.33, A vs B - .37 vs 1.97
It seems that Swords should only be chosen for its EVA bonus. As a semi-tank, I can see the benefit of that.
Now for the benefits:
Swords give evasion
Axes give Crit Chance
Blugeons give accuracy
Evasion can be good considering Warriors don't have a lot of defense but our HP is nice and high with buff
Crits seem to be multiples of your original damage and more damage = happy warrior
Accuracy is nice to output more dependable DPS which I find useful when soloing single higher lvl mobs
I think as a DPS type, the question lies with whether the Crit Chance gain from Axes will outweigh the Acc on Bludgeons. At Ferus (LVL 30), Axes give you 1.93% Crit chance and Bludgeons give 63 Acc. Every 528 seconds (assuming all hits connect), Axes will crit 4.63 more times (on 43-58 damage). Assuming no crit, Bludgeons will dish out 422.4 more damage on average. So non-ideal conditions are somewhere in the middle of these two.
Unfortunately, I need some more data to complete this comparison. If anyone knows
how much crits are worth (1), the acc algorithm, and the eva algorithm; I would appreciate it and be sure to give credit!
Ultimately, what do you guys prefer?
Edit:
(1) Thanks to Victoria for providing Crit Damage
So now knowing that Crits are twice the normal damage plus the bonus that is stated in the info/character sheet, let us take the previous 528 second sample and factor in crit damage. Assuming at Level 30 a warrior has roughly 21 bonus crit damage for normal attacks [this number is extrapolated due to my being only 28 atm], Axes will dish out an additional 428 - 685 damage (564.86 on average) [Note that min and max are floored and ceilinged values of 4.63]. This sounds pretty good compared to the 422.4 from bludgeons.
